Paint-by-shadows

This sunday I went outside with my daughter to paint shadows in an impressionistic way. The shadows moved while we drew, almost impossible to capture. Time passing. The big mystery.

Lace

A metalfence made into lace, seen in a shopwindow somewhere in the city. I like!

Camp fire

So. While waiting for the traditional Swedish spring fire, Majbrasa, I made one out of plastic beads and a magnet...doesn´t everybody need their own mini-camp fire?

Nu

This is a cushion made from vintage kitchen towls. I emroidered the word Nu, it´s the swedish word for Now. A reminder of time passing, a kind of Memento mori message or remember to live while you´re alive-message with a practical use. I was inspired by old embroidered walldecorations with different kind of proverbs that people used to, and still do, decorate their houses with.

Empty and abandoned houses

Annas place

I took some photos at my friend Annas place, I love the way she decorates her home!

Stuff

Notice boards

I just love stuff like this! Old scrappy, shabby things like these notice boards one can find all over the city. For me it´s visual poetry!

My corner of the world

Hi!
Welcome to House of Cowling! This blog is my corner of the world and my virtual studio of creative activities. Here I want to share some of my ideas and things that inspire me. I will mostly write in english but sometimes, perhaps when I´m feeling emotional, or just can´t find the words I might switch over to swedish, I hope you don´t mind...

I´m a designer and artist and I live in Stockholm, Sweden. I work mainly with setdesign, windowdressing, interior design and textile design. You could say that I work with interior and space in the expanded field. I like to cross the boarders between art, design and crafts. Please join me! xxL
